Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Representatives of the Embassy of Uzbekistan in Italy, the Uzbek company BMB Trade Group, held online negotiations with the president of the Italian company Opera SRL Paolo de Angelis, Dunyo reported.

The topic of discussion was the implementation of an investment project for the cultivation and processing of saffron in Bakhmal district of Jizzakh region, as well as the organization of further export of grown products to Italy.

It was noted that this project is one of the most significant on the agenda of bilateral trade and economic cooperation. Its implementation will allow the introduction of advanced Italian experience and technologies, and will also be important in the development of strategic partnership in the organization of a cluster of medicinal plants in Uzbekistan.

The leaders of the companies exchanged information on the ongoing joint efforts to implement the planned activities since the signing of the agreement on joint activities.

The Italian businessman noted that in the next five years, Bahmal district will be able to become one of the largest international centers for the cultivation and processing of saffron.

The parties also discussed questions of opening financing and further steps for the transportation of saffron bulbs, the import of modern technology and the preparation of cultivated areas.

The Uzbek side noted with satisfaction the efforts of the Italian partner, the collaboration with which within the framework of this unique project was not suspended, despite the restrictions associated with the Covid-19 pandemic in Italy and Uzbekistan.
