Bahrain 2025: Uzbekistan Wins Gold in Cycling, Wrestling, and Weightlifting

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — On 28 October, the Uzbekistan national team added to its medal tally at the Asian Youth Games in Bahrain, showcasing strong performances across several sports.

The day’s first gold medal was claimed by cyclist Gulkhayo Sattorova, who won the 75 km road race.

In freestyle wrestling, Uzbekistan secured two more gold medals: Ulugbek Rashidov triumphed in the 51 kg category over an Iranian opponent, while Mukhliisa Masharipova dominated the 40 kg category, defeating a competitor from Japan.

Weightlifter Marjona Abdumutalova brought home two gold medals in the 58 kg class, setting new Asian Youth Games records with 88 kg in the snatch and 111 kg in the clean and jerk.

In addition to gold, Uzbekistan earned several bronze medals. In boxing (-50 kg), Nazokat Mardonova lost in the semifinals to an Indian opponent, while Mirjalol Mukammilov (freestyle wrestling, 45 kg) won the third-place match against a Sri Lankan wrestler. In girls’ boxing (-66 kg), Ulbosin Jalgasbayeva claimed bronze after losing to a Kazakh athlete.

Mehribona Kudaiknazarova earned bronze in freestyle wrestling (46 kg), Fakhriddin Nasriddinov in freestyle wrestling (60 kg), and Farrukhbek Jumanazarov in freestyle wrestling (71 kg).

In swimming, Muhammadismoil Rakhmonov secured third place in the 200-meter breaststroke. In weightlifting, Sarvinoz Kupaysinova claimed bronze in the snatch in the 63 kg category.

As of October 28, Uzbekistan’s medal count at the Asian Youth Games stood at 41: 19 gold, 5 silver, and 17 bronze.
