Aziz Abdukhakimov meets with international expert Jamil Salmi
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Uzbekistan Aziz Abdukhakimov held a meeting with international expert Jamil Salmi was held.
Salmi is an international expert in higher education, providing consulting services to governments of some countries, universities, international and regional banks and agencies.
During his visit to the Republic of Uzbekistan (from 29 October to 2 November), meetings were organized with the leadership of the Ministry of Higher and Secondary Special Education, khokimiyat of Jizzakh Region, the rectors of Tashkent city and regional universities.
The sides discussed possible formats for bilateral cooperation, including the possibility of involving international experts in the development of a Concept for Reforming the Higher Education System of Uzbekistan.
During the talks, the international expert Jamil Salmi received information about the measures taken under the leadership of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan to expand the coverage and diversification of higher education forms and areas, on the decisions taken by the Government of the Republic to fundamentally improve the national educational services market.
In particular, an international expert was informed about the opportunities provided by the organization of activities of foreign universities in Uzbekistan, including tax benefits.
Also, during the conversation, the guest was also informed about the initiated systematic work on the transformation of the educational system of Uzbekistan into the regional educational hub and plans outlined in 2019 for organizing the activities of 13 new higher educational institutions, creating branches of 8 foreign educational institutions, 22 joint faculties, 46 joint educational programs "Double degree".
In his turn, Salmi, being a member of international observation committees of a number of universities in Europe, Asia and Latin America, underlined the significant achievements of the republic regarding the opening in Tashkent of branches of universities of South Korea, United States of America, France and Latvia.
At the end of the meeting, the Uzbek side proposed to establish long-term mutually beneficial cooperation in the field of higher education, including work on the organization of the flagship university in the country.
