Attempted Sale of Newborn Prevented in Termez District
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) —Authorities in Termez district have prevented an attempt to sell a newborn. A 23-year-old student from Angor district had planned to sell her son for US$1,500.
Reports from the Millar program on Milliy TV indicate that the woman had prepared the transaction in advance. The child, born in January, was to be handed over to the buyers four days after birth.
Law enforcement officers intercepted the handover and detained the student. A criminal case for child trafficking has been initiated, and investigative actions are ongoing.
