Astana hosted the first Forum of the Scientific and Creative Intelligentsia of Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — During its visit to Kazakhstan, the parliamentary delegation of Uzbekistan took part in the First Forum of the Scientific and Creative Intelligentsia of the two countries, held in Astana under the motto: “Shared Historical and Cultural Heritage – New Horizons of Cooperation.”
In her address, Chairperson of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis Tanzila Narbaeva emphasized that the peoples of Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan are united not only by common interests but also by profound historical, cultural, and spiritual roots.
It was highlighted that thanks to the political will and efforts of Presidents Shavkat Mirziyoyev and Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, the friendly relations between the two countries continue to strengthen, with humanitarian and cultural ties actively developing.
Special attention at the forum was devoted to the preservation and promotion of the legacy of great thinkers, poets, and scholars. As examples of cooperation, the construction of a monument to Alisher Navoi in Astana and Abai Kunanbayev in Tashkent was noted, along with events dedicated to the 180th anniversary of Abai.
A key topic of discussion was the expansion of collaboration in science and education. To date, more than 280 agreements and memoranda have been signed between universities in Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan, joint educational programs are being implemented, and exhibitions and university fairs are regularly organized. In Uzbekistan, specialists are trained in the Kazakh language, which is also taught in more than 400 schools.
The Parliament of Uzbekistan expressed its readiness to support joint initiatives aimed at strengthening cultural and scientific cooperation, by creating the necessary legislative and organizational framework.
Forum participants also stressed the importance of cultural tourism and the creative industries, underscoring the need to hold festivals, exhibitions, film forums, and other cultural events with the active involvement of young people.
As part of the forum, an exhibition showcasing samples of the scientific and creative heritage of poets, artists, and scholars from both countries was held, alongside the presentation of historical books authored by Uzbek writers.
Thus, the forum became an important platform for consolidating humanitarian ties, discussing new joint projects, and exchanging ideas between the intellectual communities of Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan.
