Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) - The friendly assistance of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev to the people of Belarus, aimed at combating the coronavirus pandemic, has found a warm response from the citizens of this country.

Academician, Doctor of Pedagogical Sciences Arkady Shklyar spoke about this in an interview with Dunyo.

“I was very pleased to learn that at the time of trial, the President of Uzbekistan provided friendly assistance to the people of Belarus.

This assistance from Uzbekistan is provided when all states of the world need help, when everyone does not have enough means of protection. Once again, we are all convinced of the greatness of the Uzbek people, whose leader extends a hand of friendly help to Belarusians during this difficult time.

We all remember that in the harsh war years, the Uzbeks hospitably welcomed thousands and thousands of old people, women and children evacuated from the occupied territories of Belarus, Ukraine and Russia. They took them as relatives in their homes, shared the last edge of bread. In this regard, I recall a symbolic episode of that war, when during the days of the siege of the Brest Fortress a simple Uzbek soldier, whose name was not preserved, despite a flurry of bullets, risking his life, brought water to the children, injuring many who survived.

After 75 years, when our peoples are preparing to commemorate the Great Victory of our fathers and grandfathers over the fascist plague, a new disaster struck us, an invisible enemy fell on our heads. And the current generation of the Uzbek people, despite the difficulties experienced by themselves, again shows an example of fraternity, an example of philanthropy and helps Belarusian brothers and sisters. I can’t reflect all my feelings in words.

I can only say one thing. I express my gratitude to the people and President of our native Uzbekistan!
