Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- On 28 May 2019, the results of the first independent review competition of architectural projects Me’mor 2019 were summed up. Of the 123 works, the international jury selected 13 best projects. A total of 123 projects were sent by the participants.

Me’mor 2019 was the first independent architectural competition of the republican scale in Uzbekistan. The organizers were the KNAUF in partnership with the platform of architects and designers ADP with the support of the Union of Architects.

“Me’mor // 2019 is an important step in the history of the development of modern architecture of Uzbekistan. We are pleased that it was KNAUF that became the organizer of the competition, because it reflects our mission - to contribute to creating a safe, environmentally friendly and comfortable living space,” Dmitry Deripalko, director of KNAUF enterprises in Uzbekistan, said.

The international jury, which included prominent architects from Spain, Russia, Ukraine and Georgia, identified 13 best projects created over the period 2014-2019. When making a decision, they took into account the freshness of view, novelty of thought and non-triviality in combination with the knowledge of traditions, identity, as well as the use of traditional materials and technologies.

“I always advise architects to participate in competitions, because only competitive design gives freedom of thought, helps to formulate a creative credo and develop originality. Without a personal creative person, it is impossible for the architect or the team to take place. During the judging, the jury decided to enlarge the competition categories, as not all nominations collected a sufficient number of interesting works. This step allowed us to mark really worthy and original projects,” Sergei Tumanin, the curator of the Me’mor 2019 review-competition, said.
