Ankara is following with great interest the progress of the election campaign in Uzbekistan

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- The upcoming parliamentary elections in our country are taking place in the context of fundamental democratic reforms in the country, and therefore cause great interest abroad. In particular, Turkish media are actively covering the election process, Dunyo reported.

The Anatolian News Agency published a series of reports stating that on 15 November 2019, the Central Election Commission of the Republic of Uzbekistan completed the registration of all candidates in the parliamentary elections. It is noted that the Central Election Commission allowed all 750 candidates nominated by five political parties to participate in the elections.

Popular in Turkey, the publication Time Turk also drew attention to this stage of the electoral process in our country. The publication writes that the Liberal Democratic Party of Uzbekistan (UzLiDeP), the People’s Democratic Party of Uzbekistan (PDPU), the Democratic Party of Milliy Tiklanish, the Social Democratic Party of Adolat and the Ecological Party nominated 150 candidates in early November - According to the number of constituencies. It is reported that subscriptions of registered candidates for deputies will be officially published in the press in the near future.

The reports recall that the elections to the Legislative Chamber of the Oliy Majlis and local kengashes will be held on 22 December  2019. 20.6 million citizens will be able to vote. It is also emphasized that this is the first parliamentary election to be organized in Uzbekistan after taking office of President Shavkat Mirziyoyev. It is separately indicated that the upcoming elections will be held under the motto “New Uzbekistan, new elections”.
