Anadolu Isuzu to Acquire 75% Stake in Samarkand Auto Plant for US$80 Million

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) —  Turkish automotive company Anadolu Isuzu, part of the Anadolu Group, is set to acquire a 75.2% state-owned stake in the charter capital of the joint venture SamAuto LLC (Samarkand Auto Plant) for US$80 million, the press service of the Agency for Management of State Assets (AMSA) reported.

For the transaction, AMSA engaged the international firm KPMG as financial advisor, while legal support was provided by Dentons.

According to the agency, Anadolu Isuzu’s final offer includes not only the US$80 million purchase price but also an investment plan of an equivalent amount.

“As part of its investment commitments, Anadolu Isuzu plans to establish production of large-capacity buses and electric buses (12–18 meters) in Uzbekistan, create licensed service centers across the country, and export products to Central Asia, the South Caucasus, the Middle East, and Africa. This initiative will contribute to the formation of a regional transportation hub in Uzbekistan,” AMSA stated.

It was noted that Anadolu Isuzu’s price proposal aligns with the range determined by KPMG and the assessment by the international firm PwC. The privatization results have been approved by the State Commission on Privatization and Coordination of State Asset Privatization Processes. Completion of the deal will require approval from regulatory authorities in Turkey.
