An interdepartmental meeting takes place on active development of trade and economic relations with Afghanistan

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- On 16 April 2019, an inter-ministerial meeting was held at the Ministry of Investment and Foreign Trade under the leadership of Minister Sardor Umurzakov on the strict execution of the instructions of the Head of State on the active development of trade and economic relations between Uzbekistan and Afghanistan.

This initiative is directed to the significant potential for increasing trade turnover between the two countries due to the complementarity of economies, geographic proximity and a developed logistics infrastructure.

During the meeting, the Minister of Investment and Foreign Trade noted the importance of developing an effective trading strategy across sectors in order to ensure a significant increase in trade turnover with Afghanistan.

In this regard, the issues of coordinating the activities of trading houses and representative offices of industry companies, simplified customs regulation and transport and logistics support for export-import operations should be carefully worked out.

During the meeting, the heads of the ministries and departments involved, as well as the economic associations, participated in an interactive exchange of views and proposals on the questions raised. As a result, relevant decisions were made for execution.
