An action plan was signed to implement the provisions of the Memorandum of Cooperation between the Uzbek-Russian Business Council and the Russian-Uzbek Business Council for 2019-2020
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- The first meeting of the joint commission at the level of heads of government of Russia and Uzbekistan was held in Urgench. The meeting discussed issues of bilateral cooperation, including the further development of trade and economic relations.
"In the sphere of investments, Russia remains a very serious partner for Uzbekistan. Here, the total investment is about US$9 billion, there are more than 1.1 thousand enterprises with Russian capital. We intend to further develop cooperation in this sphere," said the Prime Minister Russian Dmitry Medvedev.
According to him, countries have an ambitious task - to bring trade to the level of US$10 billion.
The governments of Russia and Uzbekistan at the first meeting of the joint commission with the participation of the prime ministers signed a package of documents in the field of education, economy, culture, industry and health care.
At the summit meeting, an Action Plan (“Road Map”) was signed to implement the provisions of the Memorandum of Cooperation between the Uzbek-Russian Business Council and the Russian-Uzbek Business Council for 2019-2020.
The goal is to assist enterprises of the two countries in establishing direct contacts and cooperation, solving topical issues of developing business cooperation between businessmen of the two countries, increasing exports of Uzbek fruits and vegetables to the Russian market, working out new investment projects and promoting an increase in commodity turnover between the Republic of Uzbekistan and Russia Federation.
This document envisages informing the business community of the Parties about new opportunities for developing business partnerships, in particular, about congresses, exhibitions and fairs, held in Uzbekistan and Russia, as well as direct assistance in attracting business representatives to participate in trade and economic missions, business forums, “B2B” meetings, exhibitions, fairs and other events, etc.
It also stipulates facilitating the participation of representatives of the national applied art of the Russian Federation in the International Festival of Artisans in Kokand in September 10-15, 2019.
According to the Roadmap, it is also envisaged to organize the next joint meeting of the Uzbek-Russian and Russian-Uzbek business councils as part of the Second Russian-Uzbek Forum of Interregional Cooperation in 2019 and the involvement of the business community of the Russian Federation in the work of the International Investment Forum, held in 2019 in Tashkent, as well as assistance in promoting products of Uzbek and Russian enterprises in the framework of the Representative Office of the Uzbek Republican Commodity Exchange in the city of Chelyabinsk (UZRTS), in particular by informing the business community of the countries about the opportunities and benefits of the trading platform .
