Amendments to the state duty law aimed at ensuring the efficient use of land were approved
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — The Legislative Chamber of the Oliy Majlis has reviewed at its second reading the draft law “On introducing additions and amendments to Article 9 of the Law of the Republic of Uzbekistan ‘On State Duty’.”
In recent years, Uzbekistan has been systematically working to ensure the rational and efficient use of land resources in the interests of the state and society, as well as to strengthen oversight of compliance with investment obligations when allocating land plots.
Nevertheless, there remains a need to prevent cases in which business entities fail to fulfil their commitments or use land improperly or unlawfully.
Under current legislation, the directorates of special economic and industrial zones are required to pay a state duty when filing claims with the courts. This reduces the resources they need to carry out their core functions, develop regional industrial capacity, and actively attract investment.
The draft law proposes exempting the directorates of special economic and industrial zones from paying state duty on claims filed in economic courts against business entities that have failed to meet their investment obligations related to the use of land plots.
During preparation of the document for the second reading, deputies focused on aligning the amendments with existing legislation, eliminating potential legal ambiguities, and ensuring fulfilment of all obligations related to land protection. The law is aimed at promoting the rational and efficient use of land resources.
Following the session, the draft law was approved by deputies at its second reading.
