Amendments to law “On waste” discussed in Tashkent

MPs, workers of Legislative Chamber, representatives of ministries and departments, enterprises and others participated in the roundtable, the lower house of parliament said.

It was underlined that Uzbekistan create reliable legal framework for rational use of natural resources and protection of environment. The Law “On waste” was adopted in 2002 and it is directed at regulating relations in the sector of waste management.

The main tasks of the law are to decrease impact of waste to life and health of citizens, its negative impact to nature. The studies show that waste negatively impacts to health of people and pollutes environment.

In order to improve legislation in the waste management, the draft law “On introduction of changes and amendments to Law “On waste” was developed. It sets legal framework for operation of operators, which utilize and processes waste and to attract investments into the sector.

The document also include norms to stimulate introduction of waste-free technologies and processing of the waste.

The participants made their proposals to improve some norms of the law.
