Ambassador on Special Mission meets with UN representatives
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- On 1 November 2018, Ambassador on Special Assignments Ilhomjon Nematov met with the UN Under-Secretary-General, Head of the Counter-Terrorism Directorate, Vladimir Voronkov, and the Special Representative of the UN Secretary-General, Head of the UN Regional Center for Preventive Diplomacy for Central Asia Natalia Gherman.
During the meeting, UN representatives praised the new open and good-neighborly policy of Uzbekistan towards neighboring countries, the press service of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Uzbekistan said.
It was noted that thanks to the policy of Uzbekistan, a completely new healthy climate and a friendly atmosphere, as well as favorable conditions for comprehensive development of mutually beneficial cooperation between the countries of the region have been created in Central Asia.
The guests were briefed on the progress of the negotiation process on the delimitation and demarcation of the state border of Uzbekistan with the countries of the region.
According to the UN, finding solutions on such complex issues as the legal registration of the state border and the signing of agreements on the border of Uzbekistan with Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan, is highly appreciated by the UN.
The sides also discussed the issue of spreading positive developments in Uzbekistan on border issues. In this regard, the UN representatives proposed to hold a presentation of the experience of Uzbekistan on border issues in an international organization.
