Ambassador of Uzbekistan and ENC Managing Director discuss prospects for establishing cooperation
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- On 25 September 2019, the Ambassador of Uzbekistan to the Benelux countries, Dilyor Khakimov, met with the Managing Director of the European Neighbourhood Council (ENC), Samuel Doveri Vesterbye.
ENC is an independent think tank that conducts research and implements projects with the aim of strengthening a common European Neighbourhood Policy, Enlargement Policy and the promotion of a Global Strategy for the European Union’s Foreign and Security Policy. ENC conducts research that aims towards improved dialogue and neighbourhood coordination among European Union Member States, EU Accession Countries, European Neighbourhood Policy countries, including also the ‘Neighbours of the Neighbours’ (Central Asian Republics, Gulf Cooperation Council, Iraq, Iran, and Sahel Countries).
According to Uzbek Foreign Ministry, at the meeting, the parties discussed issues of establishing cooperation between ENC and research-analytical, educational institutions, non-governmental organizations, civil society institutions and media of Uzbekistan.
In particular, European experts praised the reforms carried out in Uzbekistan in such areas as modern technologies, renewable energy, freedom of media, international political and economic relations, conflict prevention, and a dynamically expanding partnership with the EU.
Following the meeting, a number of specific agreements were reached on joint development of training programs for representatives of Uzbekistan, which will include a series of mutual visits at the expert level, as well as lectures for students, representatives of public and private sectors of Uzbekistan.
