Allegro Plans Biotech Projects in Uzbekistan’s Pharmaceutical Cluster

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Uzbekistan’s Agency for the Development of the Pharmaceutical Industry and Belgian biotech company Allegro have signed a memorandum of understanding to advance biotechnology projects in the country.

The agreement followed a meeting on 24 November 2025, between Agency Director Abdulla Azizov and Allegro’s leadership. Discussions focused on establishing biotech production and research activities in Uzbekistan, including the potential transfer of existing R&D projects to the country.

Allegro presented its development of a new injectable hydrogel for osteoarthritis treatment. The company also received guidance on legal, institutional, and financial incentives available within the Tashkent Pharma Park pharmaceutical cluster.

The memorandum lays the groundwork for joint biotech projects and initiatives in Uzbekistan.
