Alisher Sultanov Relieved from Post of Presidential Representative on Energy Security
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — By presidential decree, Alisher Sultanov has been relieved of his duties as the Presidential Representative on Energy Security, the president’s press secretary Sherzod Asadov reported.
Details of the decree, including potential new appointments or information about Sultanov’s successor, have not been officially disclosed.
Alisher Sultanov was born in 1967 and graduated from the A. F. Mozhaysky Military Engineering Institute in 1989. Since the mid-1990s, he has worked in the oil and gas sector, heading the Shurtan Gas-Chemical Complex and holding executive positions at Uzbekneftegaz. From 2015 to 2018, he served as chairman of the company’s board.
Between 2017 and 2019, Sultanov was Deputy Prime Minister, overseeing the fuel-energy and industrial sectors. From February 2019 to April 2022, he served as Minister of Energy, leaving the post due to health reasons.
In 2023, he was appointed presidential advisor on oil, gas, chemical, and energy matters, and since July of this year, he served as the Presidential Representative on Energy Security following a reorganization of the Administration of the Head of State.
