AKFA to Open Its First Manufacturing Facility in the United States
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — AKFA Aluminum Solutions US LLC, part of Uzbekistan’s AKFA Group, has announced plans to open its first manufacturing facility in the United States, in the city of Bowling Green, Kentucky.
The new plant will create 331 jobs and will mark the first time an Uzbek company establishes manufacturing operations in the United States, WBKO reports.
Located in the Kentucky Transpark, the facility will operate as a full-cycle aluminum production plant with advanced extrusion, anodizing, and finishing capabilities.
The plant will comply with U.S. energy efficiency and environmental standards, using recycled aluminum billets and energy-efficient systems, thereby strengthening a low-carbon supply chain.
“This is not just a factory — it is a bridge between two countries,” said Ilkhom Abiev, a representative of AKFA Aluminum Solutions. He emphasized that Kentucky was chosen due to its strategic location, skilled workforce, and strong support from the innovation community.
Local authorities described the project as highly significant for the region. Kentucky Governor Andy Beshear noted that the facility will become a new international partner and an important step in strengthening trade relations between the United States and Uzbekistan.
Warren County Judge-Executive Doug Gorman подчеркнул that the project will create jobs and reinforce international ties, while Bowling Green Mayor Todd Alcott highlighted the region’s welcoming environment for global innovation-driven companies.
The leadership of the Bowling Green Area Chamber of Commerce described the investment as “transformational,” stressing that it aligns with the region’s strategy to attract global innovation and advanced manufacturing.
In 2025, the Chamber of Commerce announced 13 economic development projects totaling US$351.4 million and creating 431 jobs, underscoring the growing attractiveness of South Central Kentucky for global manufacturers such as AKFA.
