Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — As part of the 43rd session of the UNESCO General Conference, an international conference titled “The Role of Artificial Intelligence in Museums” was held in Samarkand.

The event was organized by the Art and Culture Development Foundation of Uzbekistan in cooperation with UNESCO, the Ministry of Culture of France, and the Guimet Museum.

The conference brought together representatives of leading museums, international organizations, technology companies, and experts in digitalization and cultural heritage preservation.

The main objective of the forum was to explore the opportunities and challenges associated with integrating AI technologies into museum practices and to identify new tools for documenting, studying, and promoting global cultural heritage.

Participants devoted particular attention to ethical aspects of AI use in the cultural sector, the development of international digitalization standards, and the creation of sustainable platforms for knowledge exchange.

Panel discussions highlighted AI-driven restoration of artworks, virtual reconstruction of lost cultural sites, and interactive museum experiences powered by advanced digital technologies.

The conference in Samarkand continued Uzbekistan’s broader efforts to strengthen international cooperation in cultural heritage preservation and promote innovation in the humanities.
