Air India Passenger Plane Crashes During Takeoff at Ahmedabad Airport
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — An Air India passenger aircraft carrying 244 people on board crashed during takeoff at the airport in Ahmedabad, a city in the Indian state of Gujarat.
According to Indian media reports, the aircraft involved was a Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner operating flight AI 171 en route to London. Eyewitnesses reported hearing powerful explosions in the Meghani Nagar area, where the plane went down, followed by the outbreak of a fire.
As of now, there is no official information regarding casualties or the potential causes of the crash. The area remains cordoned off, with fire crews, rescue teams, and medical personnel continuing their operations at the scene.
The airport administration has launched an internal investigation, while an investigative team is conducting an on-site assessment of the situation.
Access roads leading to the airport have been temporarily closed.
