Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) –– The President’s resolution “On Measures to Further Improve the Water Management System” was adopted.

The resolution implies a phased implementation, starting in 2020, of mechanisms for covering by consumers some of the costs of water management organizations for the delivery of water.

Also, the share of budget funds in the total expenditures for the construction, reconstruction and modernization of water facilities will be gradually phased out.

Along with this, it is planned:

- introduction of at least 10 scientific and innovative developments in relevant areas in the water sector;

- reduction of electricity consumption at water facilities by at least 10 percent;

- automation of the control and accounting system for water at 300 structures and waterworks of the water sector;

- reduction in the proportion of saline land to 45 percent.

In accordance with the document, the Agency for the Implementation of Projects in the Field of Water Management under the Ministry of Water Resources was established.

The Agency is responsible for the formation and preparation of projects aimed at improving the water management system, as well as their implementation.

Also, according to the resolution, the salary of employees of bodies and organizations of the Ministry of Water Economy is being increased due to the application of an adjustment factor of 1.1 from 1 November 2019, and from 1 January 2020 - 1.2.

Starting from 1 November 2019, the heads of water management organizations submit a report on the status of water resources management to the Kengash of People’s Deputies of the respective district on a quarterly basis.
