Age Tashkent: how to find out the age of your house?

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- The Department of Digital Development under the Tashkent Khokimiyat launched the Age Tashkent project in open access, which allows determining the age of buildings in Tashkent in relation to a selected period of time or specifically to a year.

Simple instructions on how to use the project: find the building you are interested in on the map, click on it and get information: construction date, building format (residential building, office building) and other data.

Depending on the age, all buildings are shown in different colors. On the right side of the screen is a "thermometer" that allows you to show buildings in the age of a given range, for example, built between 1944 and 1998. The colors of the buildings were not chosen by chance. Older buildings are displayed in the color of loose materials, straw and clay, from which houses were then built. The era of the USSR is marked by orange and red colors, and after the earthquake of 1966, the subway came to us - it is symbolized by the blue color; light blue shades refer to the period of independence, and the era of new Uzbekistan is colored green.

If you find an error in the age or other information about the building, report it in the feedback form, this will help the developers debug and improve the database.

And by clicking on the lock on the left side of the screen, you will open the “Secret Room”, which can show or hide the borders of Tashkent depending on the year of displaying the districts, the fortress wall around the city and all 12 gates, as well as archaeological and architectural objects of cultural heritage and modern street names.

Age Tashkent is the result of the joint work of dozens of specialists from the Digital Development Department under Tashkent Khokimiyat. The project provides an opportunity to truly appreciate and see with your own eyes the entire rich history of Tashkent, its architectural and archaeological heritage.

The building age visualization project is inspired by the Dutch Building Age Maps challenge, which was soon picked up in Europe, the USA and Russia. Uzbekistan became the first country in Central Asia where such an interactive map of building ages appeared.
