Advisor to the President of Kazakhstan Mirzagaliev to Be Appointed Ambassador to Uzbekistan
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Magzum Mirzagaliev, Advisor to the President of Kazakhstan, is expected to be appointed as the country’s ambassador to Uzbekistan.
This information was reported by Nurzhan Zhumagulov, an expert in the oil and gas sector and founder of the Energy Monitor Foundation, on his Telegram channel. “We wish Magzum Maratovich success in strengthening fraternal and economic ties with Uzbekistan,” he noted.
Magzum Mirzagaliev was born in 1978 in Almaty. He began his professional career in 2001 at MI Drilling Fluids International (Schlumberger) on the Tengiz field.
He subsequently completed internships in the United States, Malaysia, and Western Siberia, after which he returned to Kazakhstan to head the local branch of MI Drilling Fluids International.
In 2007, Mirzagaliev joined KazMunayGas, holding various managerial positions. In 2013, he was appointed Deputy Minister of Oil and Gas, and from 2014 to 2019, he served as Vice Minister of Energy. In 2019, he became Minister of Ecology, Geology, and Natural Resources, and from September 2021 to January 2022, he held the position of Minister of Energy.
In 2022, Mirzagaliev returned to KazMunayGas as Chairman of the Management Board, a role he held until 2024.
Since February 2025, he has served as Advisor to the President of Kazakhstan; it should be recalled that he previously held the same advisory position from January to April 2022.
