Administrative Liability Introduced for Violations of Safety Rules in the Metro and on Railways

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev has signed a law introducing administrative liability for violations of safety requirements in railway transport and the metro. Corresponding amendments and additions have been made to several regulatory acts.

Under the new law, officials and employees may now be fined up to ten times the basic estimated value (BEV) for failing to comply with traffic and transportation safety rules.

A similar penalty applies to the intentional concealment of information about incidents related to violations of safety requirements in railway transport and the metro.

The law also establishes fines for violations in the field of road transport. These include carrying passengers without the appropriate license, charging unauthorized fares, failing to adhere to approved schedules for regular routes, and deviating from the approved route scheme. The fine for such violations is three times of the BEV.

The law will come into effect three months after its official publication.
