Adiz Boboev Appointed as Governor of Samarkand Region
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — The Council of People’s Deputies of Samarkand Region confirmed Adiz Boboev as the region’s governor during an extraordinary session on Tuesday, according to local officials.
Boboev previously served as chairman of the Accounts Chamber and has been acting governor since last year. His candidacy was proposed by the President of Uzbekistan following consultations with regional stakeholders. He was officially appointed after a council vote.
The President emphasized that the new governor should focus on job creation, poverty reduction, increasing investment and exports, improving energy efficiency, lowering production costs, and transforming Samarkand Region into a model administrative area.
The session also addressed organizational matters and priorities for sustainable economic development and improving residents’ welfare.
