Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) - On 22 May, the Cabinet of Ministers of Uzbekistan adopted a resolution that defines additional measures to ensure openness and transparency of the activities of the internal affairs bodies in the field of the execution of sentences related to deprivation of liberty.

The document adopted in the framework of enforcing the law “On the Openness of the Activities of State Authorities and Governments” defines the list of information subject to declassification.

The list includes information on the number of persons held in penitentiary institutions and pre-trial detention centers, on the number and location of the relevant institutions, on their production activities and other information that was previously closed.

The Ministry of the Interior has been instructed to bring the adopted laws and regulations into compliance with the government’s decree in a month’s time together with the concerned ministries and departments.
