Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) - The Ministry of Innovation Development is working on the commercialization of technology for import-substituting activated carbons based on local raw materials created by scientists from the Institute of General and Inorganic Chemistry of the Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Uzbekistan.
Developed under the leadership of the head of the Chemical Technologies and Surfactants Laboratory, Professor Farhod Yusupov, this technology has been studied by specialists of the Ministry and a business plan has been created. As part of the Innovation Ideas Week-Innoweek-2019, an agreement was signed with local manufacturers on the implementation of this technology in the industry in the amount of 350 million soums.
Activated carbon of various modifications was tested under the conditions of Mubarek Gas Processing Plant during the purification of amine solutions, Almalyk Mining and Metallurgical Combine for beneficiation of sulfide ores, at the Navoi Mining and Metallurgical Combine for the deposition of gold during sorption leaching from pulps and solutions . At MGPZ it is recommended for implementation in an industrial environment; at MGMK and NMMC it is recommended for pilot industrial tests.
At present, activated carbon with a volume of more than 2000 tons per year for the industrial needs of the republic is imported from abroad in the amount of more than 8.0 million US dollars for the oil and gas, chemical, metallurgical and food industries.
The production of activated carbon in our country, the introduction of research by Uzbek scientists will save foreign currency, export domestic innovative products to the world market, and implement programs to localize production in the oil and gas sector.
