Acceleration of investment projects discussed in Namangan

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) - On 1 July 2019, a video- conference was held in Namangan, which was chaired by First Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Uzbekistan Ilhoma Nematov and head of Namangan region Khayrulla Bozorov.

It was attended by the heads of diplomatic missions of Uzbekistan abroad , representatives of regional khokimiyats, a number of ministries and departments, and local project partners.

The goal is to accelerate the implementation of investment projects in Namangan region, attracting advanced and innovative technologies, promoting the export of domestic goods to foreign markets and increasing the flow of foreign tourists, establishing partnerships between universities in the region and foreign universities.

During the video selector, participants were instructed by the head of our state to speed up the implementation and development of over 100 investment projects in this region totaling about US$1.3 billion, worked out with the participation of embassies after the visit of President Shavkat Mirziyoyev to Namangan region (on 28 February – 1 March 2019) and the International Investment Forum "Doing Business with Namangan" (7-8 June 2019, Namangan), which resulted in 48 investment agreements and export contracts totaling US$350 million.

In particular, a critical analysis was made of each project in the format “MFA - Embassy - Khokimiyat of Namangan region - branch department of the region”. During the meeting, in practical terms, a number of issues that hinder the timely implementation of projects were resolved.

The embassies assigned to the region established direct working contact with the leadership of the khokimiyats of the districts of Namangan region to address current issues in the implementation of investment projects.

The participants also discussed creation of a working group consisting of representatives of embassies, khokimiyat of Namangan region and ministries to accelerate the development of investment projects in the areas of health and agriculture.
