Abror Atabaev and Khojiakbar Kuchkarov Win Medals at World Championship

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — The Uzbekistan Greco-Roman wrestling team had a strong start at the U23 World Championship in Serbia, winning its first medals.

In the 72 kg weight category, Abror Atabaev won the silver medal. On his way to the final, he defeated opponents from China, Russia (under a neutral flag), Georgia, and Kazakhstan, but lost in the final match to the representative of Iran.

Khojiakbar Kuchkarov secured the bronze medal in the 55 kg category.

In the quarterfinals, he was defeated by a wrestler from Azerbaijan, but then won in the repechage rounds against a competitor from China, and claimed third place by defeating an athlete from Iran.
