Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Officers from the Tashkent City Department of the State Security Service, in cooperation with the Tashkent City Main Department of Internal Affairs and the Customs Department, conducted an operational inspection, during which members of a family involved in the smuggling and distribution of narcotics brought from the Republic of Tajikistan to the capital were detained.
Specifically, a vehicle of the brand EQUINOX traveling along the “Ohangaron–Piskent” route, which had been placed under surveillance in advance, was stopped.
It was determined that a woman born in 1976, a resident of Tashkent, and her son, born in 1999, were preparing to collect narcotics secretly delivered to the Tashkent region by their acquaintances from Tajikistan and hidden in a concealed location.
A check of their mobile phones revealed that a Tajik citizen had sent the geolocation and photos of the narcotics via the Telegram messenger. Operational measures continued, and 4 kg 985 g of hashish were discovered and seized on the roadside near Piskent as physical evidence.
Additionally, in the family’s residence in the Olmazor district, authorities seized 1 kg 124 g of opium and 1 kg 976 g of hashish.
Also procedurally detained was another son of the woman, born in 1996, who had a prior criminal record.
A criminal case has been initiated against the suspects under Articles 28, 246 Part 2, and 25, 273 Part 5 of the Criminal Code of Uzbekistan. They have been placed in pretrial detention. Investigative actions are ongoing.
