About 7,800 NGOs work in Uzbekistan

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Number of registered NGOs in Uzbekistan exceeds 7,800 units as of 1 January 2014. This was announced at the conference “Quality and quantity changes in developing civil society in Uzbekistan”, which was held in Tashkent.

Independent Institute on monitoring on forming civil society organized the conference.

At the conference, it was noted that number of registered NGOs in Uzbekistan exceeds 7,800 units as of 1 January 2014 compared to 95 NGOs as of 1 January 1991.

It was said that about 2.7 billion soums of grants were issued to implementation of socially important projects in 2013 against 444.6 million soums in 2009.
