About 23,900 new small business entities were created in 1H

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- About 23,900 new small business entities were created in Uzbekistan in January-June 2017 (without dehkans and farmers), which is 47.8% higher compared to the same period in 2016.

The largest number of small businesses was created in industries (27.1%), trade (20.5%), agriculture, forestry and fishery (14.9%) and construction (9.5%).

The subjects of small business and private entrepreneurship in January-June 2017 used investments worth 10.367 trillion soums (39.0% of total volume of the republic’s investments), which is 15.6% higher compared to the same period in 2016.

The sector performed construction work for 11.476 trillion soums (70.4% of total volume of construction works), which is 12.5% more than in the same period in 2016.

Enterprises of the sector produced industrial products for 28.428 trillion soums (43.7% of total industrial production of the republic), which is 6% more than in the same period in 2016.

Small business provided services for 28.1 trillion soums (57.5% of the total volume of services of the republic) or 8.3% higher compared to same period of 2016.

The sector generated 89.4% of total retail turnover of the republic, which amounted to 44.49 trillion soums (growth - 10.6%).

Small enterprises exported goods (goods and services) for US$1.704 billion, or 28.5% of total exports, and imported - US$2.97 billion, or 48.7% of total imports.

The sector provided for the growth of freight turnover of motor transport by 5.9% (85.7% of the total turnover of the republic), passenger turnover by 5.5% (92.7% of the total volume of passenger turnover).

This sector provided employment to 10.423 million people or 77.7% of all employed in the economy, including 8.314 million people in the individual sector, 2.11 million in small enterprises and microfirms.

In January-June of 2017, the share of small business and private entrepreneurship in GDP increased to 47.9% (46.0% in January-June 2016), industry - up to 43.7% (41.9%), agriculture, forestry and fishery - 98.3% (97.7%), construction - 70.4% (68.3%), exports - 28.5% (27.3%) and employment - 77.7% % (77.4%).
