Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) – On 22 November 2019, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Uzbekistan Abdulaziz Kamilov received the Special Representative of the Prime Minister of Canada in the European Union and Europe, Ambassador to Germany Stefan Dion, the Uzbek Foreign Ministry said.
In the conversation, the parties analyzed the state and prospects of further development of bilateral cooperation, including within the UN and other international organizations.
It was noted that over the past three years, there has been an intensification of contacts at the level of parliaments, ministries of foreign affairs, and business circles of the two countries. For the first time in the history of relations, an Uzbek-Canadian-American business forum was held in May in Navoi, in which representatives of 32 leading Canadian companies participated. Since February 2018, a simplified procedure for issuing tourist visas for Canadian citizens has been introduced.
Interest was confirmed in further building up interaction, giving it a multifaceted character. As was emphasized, the expansion of mutually beneficial ties in the trade and economic sphere will be facilitated primarily by the implementation of joint projects involving advanced Canadian technologies and investments.
The meeting reviewed the schedule of upcoming Uzbek-Canadian events.
The parties also exchanged views on certain issues of international and regional policy.
