Abdukakhimov Appointed as Presidential Advisor and Head of National Committee for Ecology

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev has signed a decree appointing Aziz Abdukakhimov as Presidential Advisor on Ecology and Chairman of the National Committee for Ecology and Climate Change.

In connection with this appointment, he has been relieved of his duties as Minister of Ecology, Environmental Protection, and Climate Change.

The decree is part of the implementation of the presidential order “On Measures to Establish a Management System for Prompt Response to Public Requests in the Fields of Ecology and Tourism.”

Under this framework, the National Committee is being formed on the basis of the Ministry of Ecology. The committee will be responsible for implementing a unified environmental policy, developing green zones, and addressing the consequences of climate change and desertification.

Separately, a Tourism Committee is being established as an independent body.

The leadership of the National Committee will be carried out by the Presidential Advisor on Ecology, who serves as the chairman of the new body. Its structure includes four deputy chairpersons, appointed by the Head of State.
