Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- On 15 April, a videoconference was held with the participation of Deputy Prime Minister - Minister of Investment and Foreign Trade of the Republic of Uzbekistan Sardor Umurzakov and First Deputy Prime Minister of the Kyrgyz Republic Kubatbek Boronov.
The parties discussed the current state of implementation of mutual agreements on trade and economic cooperation, as well as promising measures to fully utilize the existing potential in this area. In this vein, substantive proposals for increasing commodity circulation by increasing mutual deliveries of Uzbek and Kyrgyz goods, expanding industrial cooperation in the field of agriculture, the production of agricultural machinery, textiles and building materials, with the sale of products to third-country markets, were examined.
They also discussed issues related to the holding of a regular meeting of the Intergovernmental Commission on Trade and Economic Cooperation in terms of filling the agenda of the event with specific proposals in the field of investment and trade partnerships.
During the videoconference, the measures taken by the governments of both countries aimed at counteracting the spread of the coronavirus pandemic, ensuring the security of citizens of both countries and mitigating the economic consequences of global crisis phenomena, as well as mechanisms for bilateral cooperation in this direction, were separately discussed.
As a result of the videoconference, an agreement was reached on the creation of a mechanism of constant bilateral interaction at the level of heads of foreign economic departments, with the help of which the parties will continue expert elaboration of further elimination of trade barriers, as well as the development of measures to ensure further growth in trade. The parties also agreed to quickly resolve current issues of trade and economic partnership in the format of regular video conferencing sessions.
The introduction of the same mechanism at the level of heads of transport ministries will be aimed at promptly resolving issues of cooperation in the transport and logistics sphere.
