A Shipment of Uzbek Persimmons Infested with Quarantine Pest Seized in Krasnodar
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — In Krasnodar, officials from the Southern Interregional Office of Rosselkhoznadzor identified a large shipment of infested persimmons imported from Uzbekistan.
According to the agency, on September 15, during an inspection at a temporary storage warehouse, specialists discovered quarantine pests — western flower thrips — in an 18.8-ton shipment delivered by road.
Experts note that this insect can cause serious damage to agriculture, affecting a wide range of crops.
To prevent the spread of the pest, the shipment was banned from entering Russia.
