A series of events with the participation of compatriots living in Latvia held

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- The Embassy of Uzbekistan in Latvia and the State Committee of the Republic of Uzbekistan on tourism development held meetings with compatriots living in Latvia, and also held events to mark the celebration of Navruz.

Today, many of our compatriots abroad are promoting their ideas and initiatives for the development of tourism industry in Uzbekistan and promotion of a national brand at the international level. In this context, a meeting was organized with compatriots living in Latvia, the press service of the State Committee of Tourism of the Republic of Uzbekistan said.

During the meeting, the head of the State Committee for Tourism Directorate, J. Gaziev, informed compatriots about the progress made in the tourism sector in Uzbekistan, including innovations to simplify the visa regime for foreign citizens. He also called on the Uzbek diaspora to more actively promote the tourism potential of Uzbekistan, as well as to participate in various projects.

Within the framework of the visit, the Embassy of Uzbekistan in Latvia, the State Committee for the Development of Tourism, together with the Ministry of Culture of Latvia and the Riga Mayor’s Office, also held an event on the occasion of the Navruz celebration, in which more than 250 of our compatriots and representatives of the Latvian public took part. , cultural, social circles and mass media of Latvia.

The performance of the Ustazod music group from Uzbekistan, which is located in Latvia, made a warm impression on the Latvian public about the art and culture of Uzbekistan. Also, the State Committee for Tourism organized a tasting of Uzbek pilaf and dishes of national cuisine, as well as information materials about the tourist potential of Uzbekistan were distributed.

It should be noted that during the visit, the opening ceremony of the Uzbek Information Center was also held in cooperation with the University of Latvia, the Uzbek National Cultural Center and compatriots living in Latvia. The State Committee on Tourism provided the Center with a wide range of handouts about the tourism potential of Uzbekistan.

“The opening of the Information Center at the University of Latvia will provide extensive information on the rich and unique historical, cultural and literary heritage of Uzbekistan. In addition, the Center contains materials about the tourism potential of Uzbekistan, with which teachers and students of the university can get acquainted, said the head of the Uzbek Information Center Linda Eltermane.

During the visit, the Uzbek pavilion was opened at the central market of Riga, and an agreement was reached on promoting the tourist potential of Uzbekistan in the Latvian media, in particular, demonstrations on Latvian television channels.
