A project to stop the allocation of land with inheritable tenure rights is being discussed

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- The Ministry of Justice has developed and posted for discussion a draft law “On Amending the Law of the Republic of Uzbekistan “On Dekhkan farms”.

The Law as amended on 30 April 1998 No. 604-I “On Dekhkan farms" is amended and supplemented and its new version is approved.

It defines the procedure for creating a dekhkan farm, its rights and obligations, sets out the fundamentals of land tenure and land use, relations between its members, state support for farmers and the termination of farm operations.

After the entry into force of this law, the allocation of land plots with the right of inherited lifetime possession will cease. Land will be leased for 30-50 years for horticulture and viticulture and for 5-15 years for growing vegetables, melons and other crops. The activities of the dekhkan farm will be considered terminated after the termination of the right to the land plot belonging to it or upon the expiration of the lease term, including the period of the secondary lease.

Until 1 January 2021, all normative legal acts, decisions of the Government and government bodies related to the activities of dekhkan farms should be brought into line with the new version of the law, but until its entry into force, property relations will be preserved in accordance with applicable law.
