Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- A plane landed in Tashkent with a group of Chinese consultants and medical experts consisting of 15 people. This was reported by the press service of the diplomatic mission of China in Uzbekistan.
“The same plane delivered humanitarian aid for 2 million yuan (approximately US$290,000), which includes 2 ventilation devices, 55,000 medical masks, 5,500 N95 masks, 2,200 gowns, 2,000 test systems, 2,200 goggles and medicine,” the embassy notes.
Chinese Ambassador to Uzbekistan, Ms. Jiang Yan, said: “After the outbreak of the epidemic caused by the new type of coronavirus, China and Uzbekistan have been supporting each other. At the key moment of the Chinese side’s struggle with COVID-19, the Uzbek side timely extended a helping hand to us, which is strongly remembered in the hearts of the Chinese people. When the first cases of infection were recorded in Uzbekistan, the Chinese side, empathizing with the difficulties of the Uzbek side, quickly organized a video conference with the participation of specialists from the two countries and shared their experience in the prevention and treatment of the disease. Medical devices and equipment provided by the government, various departments and research institutes, local authorities, companies and the civil society of China have already arrived and continue to arrive in Uzbekistan."
“This group of consultants and medical experts consists of 15 people. Specialists of various fields are concentrated in it - from public and sanitary management to the diagnosis, treatment, prevention and control of the disease. All members of the group are directly involved in the fight against COVID-19 on the first front in China, have extensive experience, and will gladly share first-hand materials with their Uzbek counterparts. It is especially worth noting that in addition to Western medicine doctors, this group also includes specialists in traditional Chinese medicine. Practice shows that Chinese traditional medicine gives a good effect for the prevention and treatment of new coronavirus infection. The other day, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev also emphasized the importance of fully identifying and unlocking the potential of national medicine in Uzbekistan. Chinese specialists are ready to hold an in-depth exchange of views with Uzbek colleagues on the possibilities of oriental traditional medicine in overcoming serious public health situations, such as COVID-19, in order to lay the foundation for further cooperation in this area,” she added.
“Uzbekistan is taking a number of stringent measures to prevent and control the epidemic. We are confident that, under the leadership of Shavkat Mirziyoyev and thanks to the joint efforts of the people, Uzbekistan will soon achieve victory over the epidemic. Proverbs say, “Dust uzoqda bolsa ham, kongli yaqin”, “Birlashgan kuch yengilmas”. I hope and I am sure that the work of Chinese specialists will be useful to the Uzbek side to achieve a final victory in this struggle, and will serve as the joint construction by China and Uzbekistan of the Healthy Silk Road,” said Jiang Yan.
