Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- At the 28th plenary session of the Senate, the issue of sending a parliamentary request to the Cabinet of Ministers on the implementation of localization programs in the manufacturing sector of the economy was considered.

The meeting discussed the work carried out in 2021 on the basis of the localization program in our country.

In particular, last year, more than 2,000 projects provided for the production of products worth 24.4 trillion soums, 1,938 projects were actually launched, thanks to which industrial products worth 30.1 trillion soums were produced. As part of these projects, 254 types of products worth $411 million were exported, and more than 12,400 new jobs were created.

During the discussions, it was noted that within the framework of the implemented projects, the production of such products as a truck for transporting water, a drilling pump, low-power electric motors, and ultrasonic water meters has been launched.

In turn, the senators also drew attention to some problems in the implementation of the localization program.

The low level of localization causes a high dependence on imported raw materials and materials. This leads to an increase in product prices, which negatively affects the purchasing power of the population.

Thus, 115 projects worth 1.9 trillion soums included in the localization program for 2021 have not been launched, the plan for the production of local products for 203 projects has not been fulfilled.

The localization plans of Uzavtosanoat JSC, the Pharmaceutical Industry Development Agency, Uzmakhsusmontazhqurilish JSC, the Uztukimachiliksanoat Association, the Uzeltekhsanoat Association, and in terms of regions - Khorezm, Kashkadarya, Andijan, Samarkand regions have not been fully implemented.

In addition, there were cases of concluding direct contracts in violation of the law through the electronic portal www.cooperation.uz, making purchases at inflated prices, selling goods and imported goods on the exchange of electronic cooperation by non-local production entities.

As a result of the discussion, the Senate adopted a resolution on sending a parliamentary request to the Government on the implementation of localization programs in the manufacturing sector of the economy.
