Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev signed a decree “On measures to radically increase the role and authority of the Uzbek language as the state language”.

The head of state declared 21 October  in the country as the "Holiday of the Uzbek language."

“To approve the proposal of the chambers of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan, the Ministry of Culture, the Union of Writers of Uzbekistan, the Republican Center for Spirituality and Enlightenment, the Youth Union of Uzbekistan, the Committee of Women of Uzbekistan, the Development Strategy Center and the general public on the announcement on October 21 - the day the status of the state language is granted to the Uzbek language “The holiday of the Uzbek language,” the document says.
