A new procedure for the payment of scholarships to univetsity students set

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) - The Government adopted a resolution “On measures to improve the procedure for determining the amount of scholarships paid to students of higher educational institutions, their purpose and payment”.

In accordance with the decree, from 1 February 2020:

- students studying on the basis of a state grant, paid contract with a scholarship in the form of training on the job, are provided with a strictly defined scholarship (with the exception of graduating students studying on the basis of a state grant in the 2019/2020 academic year);

- only for students who have successfully mastered (86 points and above) subjects according to the results of the semester, scholarships will be increased by 20 percent compared to the basic scholarship;

- students studying on the basis of a state grant who satisfactorily completed the semester (less than 71 percent) by the end of the semester and have completed 30 percent or more of the subjects; no scholarship will be paid in the next semester (with the exception of students completing courses studying on the basis of the state grant in 2019 / 2020 academic year).

According to the resolution, as an experiment, students studying on the basis of a state grant who have mastered the subjects “excellent” (rating indicator - 86 and higher) and “good” (rating indicator - 71 and higher), the difference between the amounts paid actually from September 1 2019 to February 1, 2020, and those that must be paid on the basis of the relevant government decree will be covered within the state budget allocated to ministries and departments that have UNIVERSITY in the system.

Also, taking into account that students included in the category of holders of scholarships and studying on a paid contract basis, having disabilities of the 1st and 2nd groups, orphans and children left without parental care, who are on state support, scholarships are paid at the expense of the republican budget of Uzbekistan, starting from the 2019/2020 academic year, it is possible to pay for the contract without a scholarship.

According to the regulation approved by the decree, a scholarship commission is created in the university every academic year, chaired by the vice-rector for academic work to assign scholarships to students.

The list of students recommended by the scholarship commission is approved by order of the rector.

A university student studying on a budgetary basis, having academic debt for the academic semester without good reason, is deprived of the right to receive a scholarship from the first day of the next academic semester.

A student on a budget who has paid off his academic debt and has a satisfactory academic performance indicator of less than 30 percent (rating score less than 71 points) receives a basic scholarship from the first day of the month following the expiration of the academic debt repayment period until the next academic semester in current academic year.

A student who has academic debt, for good reason, does not lose a scholarship until the academic debt is paid.

During qualification practices and vacations conducted on the basis of the curriculum, students' right to receive scholarships is retained. During the period of academic leave, a scholarship is not paid to students.
