A new museum opens in Kattakurgan district

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- A madrasah located in Paishanba village of Kattakurgan district of Samarkand region will begin its activities as a library and museum of local lore. This was reported by the press service of the Department of Tourism Development of Samarkand region.

This reformatting of the historical object was carried out at the suggestion of representatives of the local intelligentsia and respected elders.

The need to open a new page in the history of this object has ripened long ago. According to the district’s old-timers, the madrasah, which has an almost 250-year history, was used as a warehouse for agricultural fertilizers until Uzbekistan gained independence. In recent years, the building has been restored, the surrounding area has been landscaped.

It should be noted that readers who visit the library open here can study with books in hujra-cells of the madrasah, thereby plunging into the atmosphere of the distant past. And history buffs can get acquainted in the museum of local lore with a large collection of exhibits that reflect the rich history of Kattakurgan district.

Wells that are preserved in the courtyard of the madrasah are also told by the wells, which, according to historical data, were used by both students of theological educational institution and local residents.
