A Monograph by Russian Scholars on Human Rights Was Presented In Tashkent

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — The House of Human Rights hosted the presentation of a monograph by Russian researchers titled “From Past to Future: Human Rights in the Modern World”, prepared by the Institute of Heritage and Contemporary Society at the Russian State University for the Humanities.

The event took place within the framework of the visit of a delegation from the Russian Federation, led by Presidential Advisor and Chairman of the Council for the Development of Civil Society and Human Rights, Valery Fadeev.

Representatives of government bodies, academic circles, and human rights organizations from both countries attended, alongside staff from the Alisher Navoi National Library of Uzbekistan and regional information and library centers.

New Initiatives

During the event, Akmal Saidov, Director of the National Center for Human Rights of the Republic of Uzbekistan, emphasized the importance of scholarly legal literature in shaping a legal culture and announced the opening of a dedicated section, “Russia and Human Rights”, within the House of Human Rights. This section was established with books and publications donated by Russian human rights and educational organizations.

Valery Fadeev highlighted that the initiative aims to disseminate knowledge about systems for protecting rights and freedoms and to deepen interstate dialogue. According to him, the modern world requires broad intercivilizational discussions on human rights that can offer new approaches to addressing global challenges.

About the Book

The monograph is a comprehensive study examining the relationship between universal and national legal traditions, the significance of social rights in the context of globalization, and providing a critical assessment of international democracy and freedom rankings.

The authors integrated perspectives from history, philosophy, jurisprudence, and political science, making the work valuable not only to specialists but also to a wider audience, including students, educators, politicians, journalists, and anyone interested in the development of human rights.

Prospects for Cooperation

Participants emphasized that the book will serve as a foundation for further academic discussions, the development of educational programs, and new joint projects.

The monograph presentation and the opening of the thematic section mark a new stage in Uzbek-Russian collaboration in the fields of humanitarian research and human rights.
