Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- On 4 December, during the visit of the delegation of Uzbekistan to Japan, the Minister of Investment and Foreign Trade Sardor Umrzakov met with the senior vice president of the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), Y. Tanaka.
JICA management highly appreciates the activity and systematic cooperation with Uzbekistan, bearing in mind the speed of interaction with the involved departments in resolving emerging issues, as well as the consistency in expanding partnerships through the initiation of new projects in economically and socially significant areas.
Currently, the priority areas of cooperation between JICA and Uzbekistan for the medium term are enshrined in the prepared Protocol on Cooperation, the signing of which is planned during the visit to Japan at the highest level in December this year.
Constructive and substantive negotiations covered a wide range of bilateral cooperation, including projects that are already being implemented with the assistance of JICA, and promising initiatives in priority areas of cooperation: heat and power, technology, horticulture, healthcare, education and public administration. During the dialogue, current issues on each joint project were addressed and worked out in an targeted manner, which will significantly accelerate the process of their implementation.
JICA management emphasized its commitment to strategic cooperation with Uzbekistan, as well as voiced its willingness to participate in the implementation of new investment projects implemented by Uzbek and Japanese companies.
Following the meeting, the parties came to a common understanding of the sequence of further actions and agreed to maintain close contact for the rapid exchange of information during the work process.
