A meeting of the Uzbek-Turkish Business Council takes place

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- On 23 June 2020, the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the Republic of Uzbekistan together with the Committee on Foreign Economic Relations of Turkey (DEIK) organized the next meeting of the Turkish-Uzbek Business Council in the form of video conference.

The event was attended by the Chairman of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the Republic of Uzbekistan Adham Ikramov, Turkish co-chair of the Turkish-Uzbek Business Council Izzet Ekmekchibashi, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Turkey to the Republic of Uzbekistan Mehmet Sureya, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Uzbekistan to the Republic of Turkey Alisher Agzamzhaja , as well as the relevant ministries and departments and representatives of business circles of the two countries.

During the talks, issues of development and expansion of bilateral trade, economic and investment cooperation in the current year were discussed.

In turn, the Turkish side highly appreciated the pace of socio-economic development of Uzbekistan over the past three years and the country's activity in expanding trade and economic relations with foreign countries.

It was also noted that in order to achieve commodity circulation, attention should be paid to the interaction of the two countries in the educational, health, tourism and livestock sectors.

During this meeting, Member of the Board of Trustees of the Bahcehir educational institution Mr. Enver Yusel also noted that in Turkey there are hospitals, clinics, medical educational institutions that are interested in cooperation with Uzbek partners. In this regard, in order to get acquainted with the products and services of Turkish medical companies, a webinar was proposed.

In turn, the Ambassador of Uzbekistan to Turkey, Mr. Alisher Agzamkhodjaev, emphasized that active work is underway to attract Turkish investment. In addition, work is underway to study the experience of Turkish jewelers, as well as to establish cooperation in the military-technical sphere. Moreover, in the course of his speech, the ambassador noted that over 150 Turkish specialists were sent to Uzbekistan for cooperation in the agricultural sector.

In conclusion, it was noted that the sixth round of negotiations on the Agreement on Preferential Trade between Uzbekistan and Turkey, which is scheduled for July of the current year, will be given great importance. It is worth noting that the signing of the agreement is in the interests of both countries, and it will become one of the most important tools for achieving common goals in the field of investment and trade growth between the two countries.
