Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- On 27 April, under the leadership of the Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Uzbekistan Sardor Umurzakov, the first meeting of the Coordination Group on attracting grants and concessional long-term financing, created by a resolution of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan “On measures to attract external assistance funds to support the population, budget, basic infrastructure and business entities during the coronavirus period pandemics" from 22 April 2020, was held.
During the meeting, reports were heard from the heads of the Ministry of Investment and Foreign Trade, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Finance, the Ministry of Health, industry departments, specialized agencies and commercial banks on the current status of measures to counteract the negative consequences of the global coronavirus pandemic, as enshrined in the above resolution.
The measures are aimed at strengthening the health care system, supporting the state budget, the banking system and entrepreneurship, ensuring the smooth functioning of utilities and energy enterprises and implementing socially-oriented and infrastructure projects.
Separately, mechanisms for ensuring effective control over the targeted use of financial resources raised to minimize the impact of global crisis on the country's economy were discussed.
As a result of the meeting, the leadership of the Coordination Group gave targeted instructions and instructions to ministries, departments, local authorities and commercial banks to conduct detailed calculations of the actual funding needs for each individual social and infrastructure project.
The task is set to optimize the use of borrowed funds and grants from international financial institutions in order to provide the most effective support to citizens and business entities of the republic in the current conditions caused by the pandemic.
