Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) - A meeting was held at the Embassy of Uzbekistan in Spain with the head of the international department of the University of Francisco de Vitoria Victor Cortiso, Dunyo news agency reported.

During the negotiations, issues of establishing cooperation with Uzbek universities, the implementation of joint projects, as well as the organization of a visit of a group of Spanish students to Uzbekistan were discussed.

The University of Francisco de Vitoria, founded in 1993, is a private Spanish university. It employs over 10 thousand students and employs about 1,400 employees. The university has 6 faculties: Faculty of Economics and Law, Faculty of Humanities and Education, Faculty of Medical Sciences, Faculty of Experimental Science, Faculty of Polytechnics, Faculty of Communication Sciences, as well as a number of centers, including the International School of Business, the Center for Medical Modeling, School culinary arts, the center for teaching a foreign language and others.

During the meeting, the Uzbek side presented a presentation of the educational system of the republic, ongoing reforms in this area, as well as prospects for the development of higher education in Uzbekistan.

Representatives of the Spanish University expressed interest in establishing close cooperation and implementing joint projects for the exchange of students and professors, publishing scientific papers and introducing new teaching methods.

Following the meeting, an agreement was reached to organize in March 2020 a visit to Uzbekistan of Spanish students and professors of this university to establish contacts, familiarize themselves with the activities of higher educational institutions of the republic and the culture of the Uzbek people, as well as determine further steps for the implementation of joint projects.

During the stay, it is planned to hold meetings at the University of World Economy and Diplomacy, the National University of Uzbekistan, the State University of World Languages of Uzbekistan, Samarkand State Institute of Foreign Languages and Bukhara State University and sign cooperation agreements with them.
