A drug courier carrying nearly 1 kilogram of narcotics was detained In Tashkent
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — A drug courier from a neighboring country was detained in Tashkent while attempting to deliver nearly one kilogram of narcotics, the press service of the Supreme Court of Uzbekistan reported.
The incident occurred in the Yakkasaray district of the capital. A 24-year-old foreign national arrived in the country with the intent to smuggle drugs from Germany, with a total weight of about 1 kilogram.
Law enforcement officers tracked the courier and apprehended him directly during the transfer of the prohibited substances.
The court found the man guilty under Part 2 of Article 246 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Uzbekistan (“Smuggling”) and Part 5 of Article 273 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Uzbekistan (“Illegal manufacture, acquisition, storage, and other actions with narcotic drugs, their analogues, or psychotropic substances for the purpose of distribution, as well as their distribution”).
The offender was sentenced to 13 years of imprisonment.
