A delegation of Uzbekneftegaz takes part in opening of gas chemical complex in Turkmenistan
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- A delegation of Uzbekneftegaz at the invitation of the Turkmen side took part in the opening ceremony of the gas chemical complex for the production of polyethylene and polypropylene in Kiyanly.
New production was launched by President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov.
It should be noted that the gas chemical complex in Kiyanly is a similar project of the Ustyurt gas-chemical complex of Uzbekistan. It was built on the basis of the Surgil deposit in Karakalpakstan and put into operation in 2015.
In February 2008, Uzbekneftegaz JSC and Kor-Uz Gas Chemical Investment consortium comprising Korea Gas (KOGAS), Lotte Chemical and GS E & R created a joint venture Uz-Kor Gas Chemical on a parity basis for the construction of the Ustyurt Gas Chemical Complex.
The cost of the investment project of a gas-chemical complex for the production of polyethylene and polypropylene in Kiyanly was more than US$3.4 billion.
According to the state information agency of Turkmenistan, it is implemented by the Turkmengaz State Concern together with foreign partners - LG International Corp, Hyundai Engineering (Republic of Korea) and TOYO Engineering Corporation (Japan).
The production capacity of the new complex of Turkmenistan makes it possible to process 5 billion cubic meters of natural gas per year and thereby produce 381,000 tons of high density polyethylene, 81 thousand tons of polypropylene and other products, as well as receive up to 4.5 billion cubic meters of marketable gas.
The production of polymers at the gas chemical complex in Kiyanly is carried out on the basis of modern technologies, in particular, the COREFLUX ™ technology is used at the gas separation plant, providing efficient extraction of methane, ethane from natural gas, as well as the technology of purification of raw materials from the so-called “acid gases” and mercury impurities widely used throughout the world.
The ethane plant is designed to process 685,000 tons of hydrocarbons per year.
The plant has mastered the production of a new product for Turkmenistan - high-density polyethylene obtained by the polymerization of ethylene at low pressure. It uses Innovene ™ technology, the license for which is provided by the international corporation “INEOS Technologies” (United Kingdom).
